Inspiration Series: Part 2 of 10: Inspiration From Within
Inspiration from within comes when we stop and listen to what’s inside. When we ask ourselves questions like, “What do I really want in my home?” “What do I really like?”
If I were to trim my organizing style down to a couple of words it would be beautifully organized. I don’t just want the environment I live in to be organized, but to be beautiful too. Along with visual beauty, I want to surround myself with things that help create an environment that is peaceful, has meaning and adds joy. For me that translates into views of nature, photos of the people and places I love, using natural materials like baskets, displaying printed words and scriptures that really speak to me, playing worship music and being embraced by soft soothing colors and fabrics. Gaining this understanding helps me decide what to keep and what to get rid of as I organize and beautify my home spaces.
What about you? Take some time to stop and think about what type of environment you really want to create as you organize your place. The following questions, will be a guide on your inner scenic detour as you take time to ponder the possibilities (skip any that don’t speak to you and spend time on those that do):
What do you want your place to feel like?
What do you want it to look like?
What is beautiful to you?
What do you most value?
What do you want to surround yourself with?
What would motivate and inspire you?
What would refresh you?
What would bring you joy?
Is there something unexpected you want as a part of your home?
