Inspiration Series : Part 3 of 10: Inspiration From Nature
My son, Brian, is in the Air Force and he and his wife, Melissa, and their two little ones have been stationed in Hawaii, Florida and currently Wyoming. Brian and Melissa have chosen to let the natural environment with its year round beach weather or nine months of snow and the activities they enjoy with these divergent settings influence their style. While living by the beaches in Hawaii and Florida they used shelving shaped like a boat to store special items while photos of their hikes around the Hawaiian islands graced their walls. Their Wyoming home boasts snow-capped mountain shelving created by Brian, skis mounted as art and maps of each mountain range they have skied framed and hung on their family room walls. These are great examples of how your natural environment can lead you to different choices.
For many of us, nature helps soothe and refresh us. It’s a place of beauty and inspiration. When you’re outside in a favorite place take notice of the colors and textures you are drawn to. These are often indicators of what you would love in your home. What other things in nature draw your eye or senses? Consider how you might creatively incorporate these things into your personal spaces as you organize your home into a place that reflects you.
