How To Organize Your Day Part 1 of 3

Do you ever wake up in the morning and before your feet even hit the ground you already feel overwhelmed by the tasks you need to accomplish that day?

You are not alone.

Being intentional about what you do each day will create more JOY in your day and keep you out of the overwhelm.

I often get asked, ”How do you get everything done in a day?”

The truth is, I don’t get it all done.

This is the thing, what usually causes your overwhelm is:

  1. You get Shiny Object Syndrome, which basically means you get distracted by everything going on around you.

    OR

You have too many ideas and thoughts running rampant in your head!

Here’s some ways to conquer the overwhelm in your day.

  1. Organize the ideas and thoughts in your head.

I start with a good brain dump by writing all my thoughts and ideas down line by line in a notebook.

Then I organize them in 4 lists: Must Do Today, Must Do This Week, Must Do This Month, Can Do Later.

This clears my head and I don’t have to worry about missing something I need to do or a great idea I have for the future.

I usually do not give myself more than 3 MUST DO things per day and the top one needs to be solely working toward my goal for the quarter.

  2. Only having three goals per quarter. That’s it. No more.

These goals will dictate what your number one is on your Must Do Today list.

If we do not do something everyday to get us toward our goals, it will be difficult to ever reach them in 90 days.

Organizing your thoughts is mandatory in order to organize your day and stop the unnecessary overwhelm in your life.
