On Your Own Or With Help: Part 6 of 7: Should I Get Help From A Friend?

Do you sometimes wonder if you can get organized by yourself or if you’ll need someone’s help and, if so, who the best person might be? If that’s the case, this series will help you find your answer.

Here are some great reasons why a friend may be a resourceful person to help you get organized. He or she:

  • cares about you.

  • wants to see you succeed.

  • is not emotionally attached to your things and can help you be objective about them.

  • most likely will be more gentle in sharing opinions than family members who are typically more emotionally invested in the organizing outcome.

  • hopefully I will be honest. You may need to encourage this by saying something like, “If I ask for your opinion, I really would like you to be honest and I want you to know you won’t hurt my feelings by what you say.”

  • can be a great encouragement to you.

  • can make it easier and more fun just by being there to assist you.

  • May ask you to help him or her in the same way or with a different task he or she is struggling to get done.

If a friend is helping you, it might be nice to plan a break where you offer something simple and yummy to eat and have time to visit.

In the last part of this 7 part series we’ll explore the question:
